Fine Art

My found object, mixed media artwork deals with finding the positive and seeing the world as it could be, no matter how it may currently be. All of my work is an experiment or exploration and besides the recurring characters of trees and simple houses, I rarely repeat an image. Following is a small sample of my collection. Pieces available for sale online can be found on my shop.

Limited Commissions are now open. Please explore the following samples of my work to learn more about my style. If you still have questions please contact me.

A mixed media painting. The background is highly textured blue like a rough plaster wall. There is a simple vase on a painted table. The vase has a blue, a purple, and a red flower in it. The vase is a swirl of browns. There is a yellow flower on the table. The vase and flowers are 3 dimensional, made from copper wire and a thin skin of paint.

Still Life #2 – Acrylic paint, adhesive and copper wire on board. This still life is a play with using paint as a sculpting material. The vase and flowers are painted adhesive in copper wire forms.

The painting is of a man in a row boat, floating through the sky. The boat is red wood slats. There are two colorful metal balloons attached and floating up from the boat. Inside the boat are wood gears and a cloth covered wood man holding a spyglass.

Moving On – Mixed media includes wood, cloth, Bismuth metal balloons. The concept was inspired by all of the people who hobble together an improbable solution, take the risks and explore new places.

Imagine a large, square board painted in streaks of creams and browns. At the lower right corner of the painting is a blue table seen from the side straight on. Sitting on the table is a black and white ceramic vase as it is falling over after being pushed. Just coming out of the vase are abstract but rainbow swirled flowers. The vase and flowers are made from fired clay.

Not So Still Life – Acrylic paint and pit fired, wild clay on board. A still life the moment it starts falling after the flippin’ cat pushed it over.

A graphical paper cut painting on plain white paper. There are three grey, paper cut clouds at the top the scene. Rain, in the shape of small paper disks are in neat rows and columns as if coming from the clouds. There is a paper cut of a young girl hold a red umbrella that is much too big for her. The rain is bouncing off the umbrella. There is blue sky, a paper cut sun, and small white clouds coming from the umbrella as if shining on the young girl.

Bring Your Own Sunshine – Paper on canvas. Inspired by the idea of umbrellas as shelter and the power of choosing our attitude.

A painting where the background is made from a yellow square in the upper left corner. In the upper right corner is a green rectangle. The rest of the background is blue. There is a line art house broken into a jumble of its pieces. Some lines overlap, but most do not touch.

Deconstructed House – Acrylic on canvas. Even when it feels like our world has fallen apart, the pieces remain. We can pick them up and rebuild, scars, new direction and all.

A simple background of dark gray with streaks of yellow and light grey radiating from the center. There is a yellow crescent moon carved from a thick block of yellow paint in the center. It is glowing yellow. There are drips of yellow falling from the bottom of the moon.

Paint Moon – Dried house paint on canvas. This is what happens when the moon gets too hot and the cheese starts melting.

A whimsical painting of a red, yellow, green, and blue rainbow tree. The rainbow colors neatly streak away from the tree and flow to the right edge of the painting. The tree is on a green hill. There is a light blue background for the sky. Thin light grey clouds whisp across the top the scene, covering a simple yellow sun. There is a texture through the painting made from little squares of paper under the paint.

Rainbow Tree – Acrylic over paper forms on canvas. Inspired by Autumn leaves flowing off a tree that reminded me of the stripes my friends had on their bedroom walls in the late 70’s.

A tall, narrow painting. The background is a simple mixe of medium to light blues. The ground is a mix of different browns. There is a tree almost the entire height of the painting. It has brown branches in front of leaves made from circles of various colors of paint. There are red, golden, dark blue, medium blue, yellow, dark green, and teal circles.

Dot Tree – A playful piece that captures the joy trees bring us. Like a tree it can be see simply as an overall form or more complexly as you look closer.

A large abstract painting on a board. The background is streaks of creams and reddish browns. There is a large blue vase with simple green vines snaking out and towards the top of the painting in all directions. At the ends of each vine are felt disks ranging in size from the palm of your hand to the tip of a thumb. The disks are pink, purple, light blue, golden brown, and off white.

Flowers in Vase – Textile, acrylic paint on board. An abstract still life that abstracts the softness of the flowers through textile.
